There are a lot of things that people enjoy and multimedia is not an exemption. In multimedia, people get to enjoy technology differently because it offers a special kind of satisfaction. In multimedia, video is usually the most interesting since people get to see a chain of images that is creatively and artistically done giving them a fantasy world filled with fascinating things. A video consists of a number of images that are arranged one after the other that somehow presents an item that is continuously in motion. There are numerous applications of video technology known to man and from this technology; humans are able to experience the world in the simplest way, through a monitor. It is not questionable that video technology has turned out to be our eye to things and events that is happening around our environment, and we are able to enjoy a lot of its benefits.

Video technology plays a significant role in most methods of instruction. Institutions like colleges and universities incorporate videos in lectures, seminars and training aside from providing supplemental explanations to promote better retention and advanced learning. It is true that experience is a better way to learn but there are instances wherein one needs to obtain information needed for a desired career and educators find it easier to present certain realistic events that naturally occur, documentaries about real life experiences perhaps. Through this, learners become knowledgeable about things even though they have not experienced such. It also serves as a supplemental source of information to books because it becomes easily understandable when one can visualize a certain subject matter. For the hearing impaired, videos also help a lot in making learning easier but of course, with the utilization of sign language and other literal visualizations.

In exploring the world, video technology also has something to contribute. It permits visualization of numerous places most especially those that are impossible for humans to remain in touch with like the deep ocean and outer space. There are advanced video recorders that are able to save images spontaneously in a form of video. This new trend in video technology is far advanced that it can withstand extremes like pressure, temperature and other external factors. This serves as an aid for scientists to further conduct studies on the earth and space with the use of recorded data. A big advantage is that they are able to watch recorded videos repeatedly and this serves as their guide in making conclusions and further explorations. It is also helped in the discovery of unknown species in oceans and other heavenly bodies farther in our solar system.

Information dissemination is an important concern of most individuals and with the use of video technology. They are able to reach a number of individuals that benefit from such. Video technology is widely used in broadcasting thus, presenting current events to people. It gives people updates about what is occurring around them and this promotes awareness. This is also a good medium to accomplish things and inform people, wherever they may be for help and assistance most especially during calamities when aid is greatly needed. This method is very accessible and can spread information in a short period of time. Therefore, responses are also swift.

This kind of technology does not only provide people with information and ideas, but it also entertains. Motion pictures, television shows and computer games are part of video technology that continues to provide people with pleasure. From black and white to colored pictures, only shows that video continues to evolve and become advanced. These things are what people usually enjoy when they get bored and have nothing else to do. It produces some kind of happiness that does not only benefit the emotional aspect of the person but also the how one thinks. It also enables artists to present to the public their unique ideas. It is a step forward into possibilities that can be achieved in the future, which somewhat fascinates the public. They are also able to experiment on things that do not usually happen, in reality.

Video technology can also be applied in the health care setting most especially on some diagnostic procedures and surgeries. It aids doctors to determine the condition of the patient when they are able to visualize some internal organs of a patient without making incisions an example is endoscopy. Surgeries that utilize video technology include laparoscopic surgeries wherein the doctor makes small incisions to the patient’s body and a video inside the body aids the doctor in the surgery.

Video_SolutionsPage_ImageDo you want to know something about video technology? As what we all know, video is the capturing, storing, transmitting, processing of moving images electronically. You have probably seen one, but have you ever think of how this technology was created? The first video technology was invented for a certain tube television system. After the great efforts by the experts, the video technology brought the television sets and computer monitors into our world. Few years later the computers were improved. At this time, it can flash and process video clips and streaming media. Because of the necessity experts tried to create an additional feature of the video technology. At this time high speed video was created and storage capacity was expanded up until memory cards were introduced.

The word video was derived from the Latin word “to see”, which can cater for different formats for moving pictures. These are the DVD, MPEG-4, and the analog video format which includes the VHS and the Betamax. The quality of the captured video may depend on the type of storage and how it is captured. Just like, for example, if you have hand tremors, and you are capturing a moving object through a video recorder. In this case, the outcome of your recorded video will have less quality. This may be observed from a blurring and scratchy effect on the screen. On the other hand, storage devices contribute a lot to the video quality because if you have a small storage capacity then, the total video information cannot fit in. Just like what you observed in the internet. If you are downloading a high definition video you can see that the memory load is higher than the low definition videos.

Because of our highly improved gadgets, we can now capture, store, transmit, and process videos through the use of different kinds of devices. In capturing video, we can use the camcorder, computer cameras, and mobile phone cameras. On the other hand, storing video can be molded into the different format so as it can be stored in memory cards, compact disk, and computer hard drives. There are different ways in transmitting videos. This is done by transferring data from one device to another. This is through the aid of Bluetooth, direct USB connection, infrared, and via the internet.

Now that we know about the history and how video technology works let’s dig deeper into the different video formats which are commonly used today and few years ago. Let us start with the DVD format. The digital versatile disc or the digital videodisc is what we have commonly known as the DVD. This is a media format that uses an optical disc. This is mainly used not only for video storage but also for data storage. The DVD was invented around the year 1995. There are two types of DVD. These are the digital videodisc recordable (DVD-R) and the digital videodisc-rewritable (DVD-RW). The DVD-R is a storage format where video and data can only be stored once. While the DVD-RW, allow you to store and edit the saved video and data. DVDs can store a high loaded video. The storage capacity of the disc may depend on its number of sides, layers, and its diameter. There are different devices that can play DVD videos… These players are composed of lasers, which allow them to read through the disc.

Another type of video format is the MPEG-4… This format is better that the DVD because of its numerous capabilities… MPEG-4 is capable of storing and processing not only video but also audio data.  Other feature of this audio format is that it can be used for distribution of CDs, voice, and video broadcast applications. What are the advantages of using an MPEG-4 format for video recording, processing and storing? It has a well developed coding effectiveness, can program a merged media data such as the video, audio, and even speech). The special feature of the MPEG-4 is that it has error resilience. It means if any error occurs the video can still function. This is important for videos, which require a good accuracy for viewing.

The next type of video format is the analog type which includes the VHS and the Betamax. Today these two formats are considered to be obsolete. What are the good things with regards to the use of analog video format? First is that it can record video and allows you to edit any scene. Next is that it can display video in an average standard. The disadvantage of using the analog format is that there is a higher tendency of altering the video quality. Another is that it is time consuming when operating with its player.
